Alliant Energy Foundation gives $2000 grant to Eden Junior Athletic Assoc.
Dollars will go toward purchase of safety netting and canopy at Eden Community Park
MADISON, WI – June 8, 2009 – The Alliant Energy Foundation is pleased to announce that it has provided a $2,000 grant to the Eden Junior Athletic Association that will help fund the purchase of safety netting and a canopy at Eden Community Park. The safety project will help prevent foul balls from being a hazard to spectators and participants during games, practices and tournaments.
“The Eden Community Park is an important local gathering place for those watching and participating in baseball and softball games,” said Julie Bauer, Alliant Energy Foundation Executive Director. “The Alliant Energy Foundation is pleased to provide funding for the netting and canopy to help make the park a safer place for everyone that enjoys attending events there.”
The Eden Junior Athletic Association will use the dollars toward the purchase and installation of safety netting that will stretch between two baseball fields at the park, as well as for a canopy that will be over the backstop of one of the baseball fields. The Association is planning to raise additional monies for the project through fundraising events, concession sales and team sponsorships. The total cost of the project is about $6,750.
“We appreciate receiving the Alliant Energy Foundation grant in support of the Association and community park as it made the project a reality for the 2009 season,” said Steve Feucht, Eden Junior Athletic Association Board President. “Once the netting and canopy are installed, it will make the park much more enjoyable as a venue to view baseball and softball games.”
The Eden Junior Athletic Association serves recreational programs such as youth baseball, softball and soccer for the Eden area. The group provides and supports all equipment, volunteer coordination and program needs via volunteer efforts.
