What is Paperless Billing?

Paperless Billing is an option that eliminates your paper bill altogether. Bills are electronically created and viewed online. It is safe, convenient, and offers you the flexibility to manage your bills online at any time from anywhere.

Is there a fee to receive my bill electronically?

No, Alliant Energy's Paperless Billing is FREE!

Am I eligible for Paperless Billing?

The majority of Alliant Energy residential, farm and business accounts are eligible for Paperless Billing. You will be notified upon enrollment if you are not eligible.

Why does Alliant Energy offer Paperless Billing?

Alliant Energy offers Paperless Billing as a convenience to our customers who find it a more convenient and environmentally responsible option than receiving a paper bill.

I just signed up for Paperless Billing, what happens next?

You will receive a confirmation at the e-mail address you have provided. When your bill is ready each month, you will receive an e-mail stating that your bill is ready to view online.

Will I continue to receive a paper bill?

No, you will not continue to receive your paper bill.

How will I be notified when my bill is available to view?

You will receive an e-mail notification when your bill is available to view. For your convenience, the e-mail will contain a link to our Web site allowing you to log in and view your bill.

Will my online bill have the same information as my paper bill?

Yes. The online bill will contain the same information as you previously saw on your paper bill.

How will I receive bill messages, bill inserts and other notices that were included with the paper bill?

Your electronic bill page contains links to electronic versions of the inserts and information you would have previously received along with your paper bill.

My e-mail address has changed, how can I update my account?

When you log in to My Account there is a link, which allows you to manage your account information, including your e-mail address. Remember, you are responsible for paying your bill each month, even if you don'y receive an e-mail notification.

I no longer have access to my e-mail account that I used to sign up for Paperless Billing, how do I know when my bill is due?

When your current bill is available, you can view it online. Remember, you are responsible for paying your bill each month, even if you don't receive an e-mail notification.

I am signed up for Paperless Billing but I didn't receive an e-mail telling me my bill is ready. Why not?

There are several reasons this could happen:

  • Check your spam filter and make sure it is not blocking e-mail from Alliant Energy
  • Make sure your inbox is not full
  • Verify that the e-mail address you provided is correct.

Remember, you are responsible for paying your bill each month, even if you don't receive an e-mail notification.

Can I view my previous bills online?

Yes, you can view up to 6 months of your online bills.

Do I have to sign up for Paperless Billing to access my account information online or to pay by bill online?

No, you can enroll in My Account to view your information online without signing up to receive your bill electronically.

What do I use for verification of electric service in situations such as school enrollment?

You can print a copy of your online bill.

What are my options for paying my bill when I receive it electronically?

There are a number of options available for paying your bill - online, by phone or even in person. View a complete list of payment options and choose the option that is best for you.

Do I need to back up my billing information on my computer?

Your billing information is available online for up to 6 months. If you need records which go back more than 6 months, you will need to store that information as you determine appropriate.

What if I have multiple accounts?

If you have multiple accounts, you will need to enroll them individually for Paperless Billing, but you can enroll them all under the same user name and password.

How do I cancel Paperless Billing?

You can cancel and return to receiving a paper bill at any time by logging in to My Account or calling 1-800-255-4268.
