As weather cools, Alliant Energy’s efficiency reward programs heat up
Customers submit 8550 rebate forms in October
CEDAR RAPIDS, IA – November 6, 2009 – Alliant Energy’s Iowa cash-back rewards on energy-efficient equipment and measures have been extremely popular with customers this year and particularly over the last several months. The reward programs provide incentives to customers who upgrade to high-efficiency equipment and measures for their home or business.
In October, 8550 reward forms were submitted by Iowa customers of Alliant Energy. After ten months, nearly 52,000 reward claims have been filed this year. That surpasses the number of claims filed in all of 2008. The most popular rewards include energy-efficient clothes washers, energy-saving replacement windows and doors and ENERGY STAR® qualified refrigerators and freezers. Home insulation and furnace check-up rewards were also very popular as customers prepare for cooler weather.
The increase in reward submissions in 2009 is attributed to several sources, including customer efforts to lower energy costs due to the economy, federal tax incentives that are available to customers who install energy-efficient equipment and the large number of customers utilizing enhanced rewards available to those rebuilding after the floods of 2008.
“We offer one of the best energy-efficiency reward programs in the nation and our customers are the direct beneficiary,” said Linda Mattes, Director – Energy Efficiency and Renewables for Alliant Energy. “The opportunity for savings through the combination of our rebates and federal tax incentives is making energy efficiency more affordable than ever.”
Federal tax incentives will continue through 2010, and Alliant Energy’s Iowa reward programs will be around for years to come. “These programs have led to significant savings for our customers, while also helping out our environment,” adds Mattes.
Alliant Energy has increased temporary staff to help process the reward forms. Customers can expect processing of rewards to take six to eight weeks. More information about Alliant Energy’s Iowa reward programs and energy efficiency is available online at www.alliantenergy.com/rewards.
