Geothermal (water-to-water)

Heat and cooling with help from the earth – it makes ecological sense, as well as dollars and cents. Alliant Energy has rebates to help make it happen. Geothermal water-to-water systems are used most commonly to heat and cool water for hydronic radiant systems and are often used in commercial buildings.

Varies

Requirements:
- Closed loop: minimum EER = 16.1 and COP = 3.1
- Rebate = ($300 x tons) + [{EER – 16.1) x $50 x tons]
- Open loop: minimum EER = minimum EER = 20.1 and COP = 3.5
- Rebate = ($300 x tons) + [{EER – 20.1) x $50 x tons]
- Water-to-water must provide heating and cooling.
- For desuperheater: $100
- Rebate paid per efficiency listed in AHRI directory.

Important information:
If locked rotor amps are more than 100, please call 1-800-ALLIANT and ask for a field engineering specialist.

Tonnage for geothermal rebates is measured per geothermal system. If multiple units make up a system, the total tonnage of the combined units will be used for rebate processing. The base geothermal rebate paid is the calculated rebate of $5,000, whichever is less. Base geothermal rebate limitations do not include the desuperheater bonus. Systems totaling more than 15 tons will be calculated through a custom rebate and are not subject to the above formula.

Room air conditioner

Your trusty old room air conditioner. Sure, it works. But is it working well? If it isn’t ENERGY STAR qualified or is more than 15 years old, you’ll want to consider replacing it. An energy-efficient model will cost much less to run and will cool your space for much less money. You can expect to save about 10% on cooling costs (source: ENERGY STAR). That equals about $20 a summer for the average Alliant Energy residential customer.

$25

Requirements:
- Units must be ENERGY STAR qualified.
- You may claim no more than three units for rebate, at a maximum.
- Alliant Energy must provide the electricity for the units.
- Qualifying unit must be shown in the current AHRI directory.
- Alliant Energy must provide the fuel for the technology installed.

How do I apply?

Download a claim form to get started. Attach the Energy Guide UPC code (if applicable), ENERGY STAR logo (if applicable) and a copy of the itemized, dated receipt and mail to Alliant Energy within 90 days of installation.

Important information:
Remember, a bigger unit is not better, and will not cool your room faster. Buying an air conditioner that is too large for a room will simply make the room more humid and will waste energy at the same time (source: ENERGY STAR). So make sure your unit is properly sized for the room.

Recycle your old working room air conditioner and get up to $25 the same day with Alliant Energy’s Appliance Recycling program.
