The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is a federally-funded initiative that helps low-income households with the costs of energy used for home heating and cooling.
Local community action agencies administer the program under the direction of the State of Iowa. Households with the lowest incomes and highest energy costs receive the greatest benefits. The size of the grant is based on household size, income, fuel type and energy consumption.
You may qualify if your household income falls with these income ranges:

You’ll need to provide your Social Security number, a copy of your most recent heating and electric bill, and proof of your household’s gross income for the past three months or for the past calendar year.
