MADISON, WI – April 28, 2008 – Representatives from Australia, Canada, China, India, Japan, Korea and the United States are in Wisconsin this week for the Asia-Pacific Partnership U.S. Peer Review on Best Practices in Power Generation. Alliant Energy Corporation (NYSE: LNT) is hosting the week long event at Sheboygan’s Blue Harbor Resort.
The Asia-Pacific Partnership on Clean Development and Climate is an innovative effort to accelerate the development and deployment of clean energy technologies. The participating countries collectively account for more than half of the world’s energy use. The partners are cooperating at the governmental and private sector levels in an effort to address increased energy needs and the associated issues of climate change and energy security.
“Operating efficiency and the environment are two of Alliant Energy’s core values, and we strive to be a leader in technology and implementation in these fields,” said Bill Harvey, President and CEO – Alliant Energy. “It is discussions such as those taking place this week that will allow us to both work toward a global solution to a truly global issue and also help shape the government regulations which guide our decisions.”
Delegates will participate in roundtable discussions and listen to presentations on power generation efficiency, emissions reduction and improving operation maintenance. Highlights of the week include tours of Alliant Energy’s Edgewater Generating Station in Sheboygan, and Columbia Energy Center near Portage. The group will also continue its work on the “Coal Fired Power Plant Efficiency Improvement Checklist” developed during previous Peer Review sessions.
