Wisconsin Power and Light responds to settlement agreement

MADISON, WI – May 1, 2008 – Wisconsin Power and Light Company (WPL), a subsidiary of Alliant Energy Corporation, has reached an agreement with the State of Wisconsin with respect to renewal of the air permit authorizing the operation of the Columbia Generating Station.

The following is a statement on the agreement from Barbara Swan, President-WPL:

“We are glad to have reached an agreement with the state on this matter, and look forward to the receipt of our air permit. We appreciate the cooperation we have received from the State to get this situation resolved in an expedient manner, and look forward to continuing to be able to provide reliable and affordable power to our customers.”
