How we use anaerobic digesters

We partner with farms, landfills and water treatment facilities across our service territory. Collectively, our partners generate about 19 megawatts of electricity through anaerobic digesters.

Why consider an anaerobic digester for your farm?

  • The digested product has minimal odor.
  • Excess heat can be used for process heating or refrigeration applications, or building heat.
  • A portion of the manure may be recycled and marketed for fertilizer.
  • Improved control of flies and potential disease-carrying organisms.
  • Weed seed control.
  • A source of revenue.
