Alliant Energy Privacy Policy
Last updated: January 1, 2025
Alliant Energy Corporation, its subsidiaries, and affiliated companies, including Travero, (also referred to as “Alliant Energy”, "we" or "us") understand the importance you place on the privacy and security of information that personally identifies you, your account, or your energy usage. We refer to this information as "personal information." We want you to know what personal information we collect and how we use and disclose it.
We have developed this Privacy Policy to explain how we collect, use and disclose information about you. This Privacy Policy applies to information we collect when you obtain service from us, use our websites, mobile applications and online services, or interact with us (collectively, the “Services”). This policy does not apply to the information we collect from individuals in their capacity as employees, contractors or applicants for employment.
Notice of this Privacy Policy is prominently displayed on Alliant Energy's website. We review this Privacy Policy on a regular basis and may make changes from time to time. If we make changes, we will notify you by posting our updated policy and either providing you with a link to the updated policy on your customer energy bill or notifying individuals via our website of the updated policy. New energy customers will receive a link to the Privacy Policy with the New Customer Welcome Book. The Welcome Book and bill notification contain a customer service phone number where customers can obtain additional information. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy frequently to stay informed about our information practices and the ways you can help protect your privacy.
Collection of Information
Information you provide to us
We collect personal information that you provide directly to us in order to provide you with service and improve your experience. For example, we collect information when you sign up for service, create an online account, fill out a form, pay your bill, make a purchase, contact customer service, use our mobile applications, communicate with us via third party social media sites or otherwise communicate with us. The types of information we may collect include your name, online account username, email address, postal address, phone number, fax number, Social Security number, date of birth, payment method information and any other personal information you choose to provide.
Information we collect automatically
Services & Usage Data
If you obtain energy service from us, we automatically collect energy usage information, including the amount of electricity or natural gas used and the average use and cost per day. In most instances, we collect electricity or natural gas usage data daily, hourly, or on a more frequent basis (“Granular Usage Data”) using advanced metering infrastructure (“AMI”). We measure the amount of electricity and natural gas you use, without identifying how you use the electricity or natural gas. The collection of Granular Usage Data allows us to provide you with better and more informed services and helps you manage your power consumption. Alliant Energy does not collect Granular Usage Data from eligible customers who have elected the non-standard meter alternative.
Website, Mobile Application & Online Service Data
As is true of most websites, mobile applications and online services ("Online Services"), we automatically gather information about your use of these Online Services, including:

We may also collect information using Web beacons, also known as “tracking pixels”. Web beacons are electronic images that may be used in our Online Services or emails and help deliver cookies, count visits, understand usage and campaign effectiveness as well as monitor the effectiveness of our emails. We use Google Analytics to help us understand how users engage with our Online Services. Google Analytics uses cookies to track your interactions with the Online Services, then collects that information and reports it to us, without identifying individual users. This information helps us improve the Online Services so that we can better serve users like you. For more information on Google Analytics, visit https://Support.Google.com/Analytics.
