UW-Madison Kegonsa Research Campus Solar will create a living laboratory for students and faculty to study soil, water, plant and animal interactions with a solar array integrated with agricultural land.
Beyond the production of renewable energy, Alliant Energy and UW-Madison are exploring future opportunities to advance this solar and agricultural research project for education, demonstration and training purposes.
The solar project will be on a 15-acre site at the UW-Madison Kegonsa Research Campus. The campus is home to the Physical Sciences Lab, a research and development lab that provides a range of services, including the design, fabrication and calibration of scientific instrumentation for research projects of every scale and complexity.
Clean energy, including solar, has become increasingly cost effective. Solar creates energy that customers will enjoy for many years, with no added fuel costs and low operation and maintenance costs. With this solar project, UW-Madison turns unused space at the UW-Madison Kegonsa Research Campus into income and showcases its commitment to sustainability.
Partnering with customers to develop solar projects is just another way we keep our customers at the heart of everything we do.
