Alliant Energy names Antonio P. Smyth Executive Vice President of Power Generation and Gas Strategy

Alliant Energy announced Antonio P. Smyth will join Alliant Energy in the new leadership role of Executive Vice President of Power Generation and Gas Strategy.

MADISON, Wis. (April 2, 2025) – Alliant Energy Corporation (NASDAQ: LNT) today announced Antonio P. Smyth will join Alliant Energy in the new leadership role of Executive Vice President of Power Generation and Gas Strategy, effective April 7, 2025.

In this new role, Smyth will be responsible for the operation and performance of Alliant Energy’s power generation assets, as well as the execution of strategic projects to support development of new generation resources to support system reliability and large-scale growth. Smyth will also lead Alliant Energy’s gas strategic planning, engineering and compliance, as well as be responsible for the company’s facility and supply chain organizations.

Smyth recently served as executive vice president, Grid Solutions and Government Affairs at American Electric Power (AEP). Smyth led the origination and strategic planning of AEP’s multi-billion-dollar infrastructure investment programs across electric generation, transmission, distribution and telecommunications. In addition, he oversaw the company’s federal regulatory and compliance activity at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and four Regional Transmission Organizations. He was also responsible for the management, operations and financial performance of AEP’s transmission joint venture utility companies across the U.S.

Previously, Smyth had served in leadership roles over the last 24 years at AEP with responsibility for the commercial development of generation infrastructure investments, electric transmission strategy and development, federal regulatory and government affairs, treasury and corporate finance, and corporate strategy and mergers and acquisitions.

Smyth chairs the board of the Reliability First Corporation in Cleveland, Ohio, and is a trustee of the Center of Science and Industry. He is a United States military veteran and earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in economics from Ohio State University. He completed the executive leadership program at the Fisher College of Business at Ohio State University and holds a director certification through the National Association of Corporate Directors.
