The Bent Tree Wind Farm began commercial operation in February 2011 and is located near Albert Lea in Freeborn County, Minnesota. The farm’s 122 turbines produce 201 megawatts of power, enough to power approximately 53,000 homes.
Bent Tree North Wind Farm
We are developing the Bent Tree North Wind Farm. As currently designed, the wind farm will add approximately 150 megawatts of power. The Bent Tree North Wind Farm is expected to generate enough wind energy to power at least 60,000 homes annually.
Economic benefits
The Bent Tree Wind Farm has generated over $5 million of tax revenue to Freeborn County and over $1.4 million of tax revenue to Hartland and Manchester Townships. Area landowners have received over $10 million in lease payments.
The Bent Tree North Wind Farm is expected to deliver additional wages, benefits, new tax revenue and landowner payments over the life of the project. During construction, the project is expected to support an estimated 100-150 construction jobs.
Environmental benefits
Wind energy reduces the use of traditional fossil fuels for energy generation. This positively impacts the environment for future generations.
Site permit application
