May’s preparedness, experience, leadership and focus led the team during the unprecedented restoration effort.

May and her team maintain a customer-first mindset and focus on providing the safe, reliable and affordable service customers count on every day. She takes great pride in engaging and interacting with customers and officials within the communities Alliant Energy serves. These meaningful relationships and partnerships help to create innovative solutions for customers.

In 2024, May was named President of Interstate Power & Light Company and Vice President of Operations. In 2025, she maintained her President role and was named Vice President of Energy Delivery, overseeing the electric and gas distribution system across Iowa and Wisconsin. In this role, she is also responsible for growing Alliant Energy’s customer base, which includes leading the company’s economic development, community engagement and account management groups. As a part of directing and implementing the day-to-day delivery of gas and electric service for all Alliant Energy customers, May works closely with the company’s Safety Blue Hat program that supports energy distribution.

May’s involvement in the community extends to industry and state board activity. She is on the Cedar Rapids Economic Alliance Policy Board, Iowa Business Council Board of Directors, Iowa Utility Association Board of Directors, Iowa Energy Center Board of Directors and the Midwest Energy Association Board of Directors.

May earned her bachelor’s degree in Finance from the University of Iowa and her MBA at St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa.
