We’re known for providing safe, reliable energy and we take our responsibility to all our current and future customers seriously.
As an essential service provider to hundreds of communities and businesses, we’re acting now to meet our customers’ needs for decades to come. Those needs include affordability, reliability and sustainability. That’s why we work toward a more diverse energy mix.
Our most recent Corporate Responsibility Report highlights some of our progress. In 2023, 37% of the power we delivered to retail customers came from renewable sources.
“We are making significant progress on our commitment to diversify our energy mix as we deliver on our purpose to serve customers and build stronger communities,” said Lisa Barton, our president and CEO. “Our commitment to decarbonization is unwavering, and I’m proud of the progress we’ve made in the past year to deliver cleaner energy resources affordably, safely, reliably and sustainably. Alliant Energy is truly unique in our ability to deliver on our purpose for the more than 1 million customers we serve across Iowa and Wisconsin.”
Access to electrical capacity has always been important in site location decisions, but even more so now with growing data center development and onshoring of manufacturing. We plan continually on behalf of current and future customers to make sure we are ready for the rapidly changing energy landscape.
A key component of our long-term plan involves developing zero-fuel cost generation resources to minimize risks associated with fuel-cost volatility. As we move toward a more diversified energy portfolio, we avoid the costs necessary to keep older generation facilities operating.
We continue to operate our system as efficiently as possible. Our investments in reliability initiatives across our generation and distribution system, such as solar, energy storage and underground power lines, will further ensure our system can handle future customer demands.
