Helping Clear Lake residents save energy at home

Customers can reduce and manage energy use with help from our residential energy efficiency programs. These programs provide valuable resources like appliance recycling and energy-saving tips and technologies. Over the past four years, we processed more than 430 rebates totaling $77,937 for Clear Lake residents.

This year, we’ve eliminated paper rebate forms for qualified items for your home or business, like HVAC system, smart thermostats, advanced power strips and much more. You’ll find the energy efficiency rebate is already applied to the price in the Alliant Energy Marketplace and the Alliant Energy Instant Discounts program when purchased from participating installers. As part of our current One Million Trees initiative, we’ve planted more than 458,000 trees across Iowa and Wisconsin since 2020, nearing the halfway point to our goal of a million trees by 2030.

Clear Lake safety spotlight: Be careful this winter

We want you to stay safe this winter. Here's advice from our Clear Lake technicians to keep you safe, at home and on the road.

  • Always keep at least 10 feet away from power lines and be particularly watchful for low and down lines.
  • Ice and snow on tree branches and electrical lines can weigh them down and reduce the normal clearance between electrical lines and the ground. This makes it easier for people and vehicles to accidentally get too close, potentially causing an unsafe condition.
  • Note electrical lines and maintain safe distances from lines when using ladders and tools used for snow removal.
  • To operate efficiently, natural gas equipment requires air for safe operation and venting. Keep gas and electric meters clear by gently brushing away snow and ice.
  • Double check your carbon monoxide detector has charged batteries and works properly.

If you see an unsafe situation, notify us. Call 1-800-ALLIANT (800-255-4268).
