Jeff Knier
Vice President – Operations Support
Jeff began his career with Wisconsin Power and Light (WPL) in 1991 working in plant operations at the Edgewater Generating Station in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Throughout his career at Alliant Energy, Jeff has held a variety of roles, each with increasing levels of responsibility and leadership accountability.
After working at the Edgewater Generating Station, at the time of the merger that created Alliant Energy, Jeff moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and worked in several of the generating stations. Later he moved to Clinton, Iowa, as the Operations Manager at the Kapp Generating Station. In 2004, he moved to Madison, Wisconsin, and worked as the Manager of ERP Systems and Support. Since then, he’s held multiple leadership roles of increasing responsibility focusing on process improvement, project management and utility operations.
In May 2024, Jeff was named Vice President of Operations Support for IPL and WPL. In his role, Jeff and his team have leadership responsibility for enterprise services that support operational excellence for IPL and WPL utility operations. This includes oversight of energy delivery engineering and project management, fleet and tool services, vegetation management, generation dispatch, distribution system operations and other support services for operations.
In his spare time, Jeff spends time socializing with family and friends. In the summer months, he enjoys sailing and other outdoor activities. In addition to volunteering for activities that support strengthening the communities in our service area, he serves on Summit Education Association’s advisory board.
Jeff holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Silver Lake College and MBA from University of Iowa.
