We’re almost halfway to our goal to plant 1 million trees (about one tree per customer) by the end of 2030! This amazing accomplishment would not be possible without community partnerships and support from residents and community leaders across Iowa and Wisconsin.
Trees naturally help the environment. They replace carbon dioxide with oxygen, which helps reduce carbon emissions in the air and cleans the air we breathe. Their root systems retain water, filter toxins and protect against erosion and natural disasters like floods and mudslides. We created the One Million Trees initiative with these benefits in mind.
There are three programs within the initiative:
- The residential tree program offers landscaping trees to our customers for only $25 apiece (about a third of the retail price) and is a great way to beautify your neighborhood.
- The community tree planting program promotes tree planting projects in communities throughout Iowa and Wisconsin. Your community can apply for up to $5,000 in funds to plant trees.
- The reforestation program addresses threats posed by tree loss. We partner with the Iowa and Wisconsin departments of Natural Resources and other organizations to replenish forests and expand wildlife conservation.
