MADISON, Wis. (Dec. 3, 2024) – Alliant Energy hopes you will consider donating to its Hometown Care Energy Fund on Giving Tuesday and throughout the holiday season to help your neighbors in need stay warm this winter.
The Hometown Care Energy Fund is an assistance program that provides up to $500 per eligible household to help with heating and cooling costs. Assistance stays local; the program distributes funds within the county from which it receives them.
Alliant Energy has dedicated $2 million to kickstart donations for the heating season. In addition to its own employees and stakeholders, the company invites all customers to contribute if they can. Customers may make one-time donations or add a specified contribution to their monthly bill.
The program typically distributes funds to:
- Households that meet Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) income guidelines.
- Individuals over 60 on a fixed income with no alternative source of funds.
- Individuals who are disabled and unable to be economically self-sufficient.
- Special hardship cases not limited to income, age or LIHEAP eligibility.
